Thanks to new medical interventions and holistic care, people are living longer with HIV/AIDS than ever before. While antiretroviral medications don’t work for everyone, many people living with HIV/AIDS report improved day-to-day health and fewer periods of disability. As their prospects for long-term health improve, many are eager to (re)enter, remain and progress in the workforce - and this is where Employment ACTion comes in.
As the first program in Canada dedicated to assisting people living with HIV/AIDS to (re)enter, remain and progress in the workforce, Employment ACTion has been providing innovative services and forging professional relationships to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers since 1999. We began as a small dedicated team committed to addressing the growing need of HIV-positive job seekers needing support in gaining and maintaining meaningful employment.
Our early achievements have allowed us to more than double in size and add a significant pool of trained volunteers, providing job seekers comprehensive pre-employment supports, job search coaching, placements, and opportunities for skills upgrading/training in a range of areas including computers and self employment.
As a client-centred program Employment ACTion works exclusively with men, women, youth and newcomers to Canada who are living with HIV/AIDS in finding career solutions that best meet their individual needs. Please contact us to find out how we can meet your needs.
